The Union Benefits Manager will oversee the coordination, administration and management of all aspects of union benefits related to collective bargaining unit employees to ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and federal and state employment regulations, while providing consultation, training and constructive conflict resolution for and between company leadership, union leadership and bargaining unit employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Union Specialist team and ensure standard controls and processes

  • Prepares information for management to utilize during collective bargaining process

  • Interpret and administer employees contracts with respect to grievances, wages or salaries, employee welfare, healthcare benefits, pensions, union practices, and other stipulations

  • Track and update union due and wage changes

  • Establish best practices and documentation

  • Reconcile union roster to ERP system

  • Implement labor relations programs to oversee compliance with the unions negotiated contract

  • Liaison to resolve disputers between company, employees and union

  • Work closely with legal to ensure CBA compliance

  • Managing grievance procedures to handle complaints from unionized employees

  • Administer labor relations policies and agreements

  • Keep abreast of labor laws and collective bargaining

  • Prepare wage surveys

  • Develop and provide training for operations leadership who oversee bargaining unit employees on how to uphold the negotiated terms of collective bargaining agreements.

  • Supporting and implementing labor relations strategies that are aligned with business unit and corporate initiatives and collective bargaining agreements.

  • Work with operations, payroll, leave, workers compensation, safety and human resources functions to ensure the terms of the collective bargaining agreement are properly adhered to and executed

  • Participate in meetings with labor and management

Skills and Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Human Resource related field
  • Experience:

    • 3-4 years management experience

    • Experience working with union benefits and compliance

    • Knowledge of Certified Payroll and Prevailing wages

      Skills:

    • MS Office knowledge

    • Self-starter and ability to work independently

    • Excellent organizational skills

    • Capacity to thrive in a fast paced environment

    • Enthusiasm for learning new skills and taking on new responsibilities

    • Detail oriented and process improvement minded

    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels (verbal and written)
